Nintendo Switch 2 is now expected in 2025.
Nintendo is planning for the next version of the Switch console and we should be seeing the new handheld device over the next 8 to 10 months.
The Nintendo Switch is a popular gaming console developed by Nintendo. It transforms from home console to handheld, allowing users to play their favourite games at home or on the go. The Nintendo Switch was a huge hit among gaming enthusiasts.
Now, the company has recently revealed that they are all set to make an announcement about the successor to its long-lasting Switch console during the financial year ending March 2025. The surprise announcement was made during their investor meeting. There have been a lot of rumours regarding the launch of Nintendoās next-generation game console, with many gaming enthusiasts predicting that the Switch 2 will have better processing powers and graphics.
The gaming company took the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) to share the news. through their official handle. They wrote, āThis is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the successor to the Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of the Nintendo Switch back in March 2015. We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation.ā
The Japanese gaming giant has, however, yet to reveal any information about the new console or the date when it plans to launch the gaming system on the market. Earlier, the Switch 2 was expected to be launched by the end of this year, but now the company has confirmed that it will be announced in March 2025.
The company also revealed its latest earnings reports for the fiscal year 2024, which found that they sold 15.7 million units of the hybrid home-portable device between April 2023 and April 2024. These figures brought the lifetime sales of the Nintendo Switch 1 to 141.32 million. This year, the gaming giants plan to sell around 165 million software units, which will be a 17 per cent decline as compared to last year.
Many insiders are claiming that the Switch 2 will more or less opt for a straightforward follow-up to the Switch 1 and will have the same features. But they will be planning to have an extensive gaming library this time.
