Honiara, Solomon Islands – The celebrity cast of the renowned Australian charity-focused program ‘Adventure All Stars’ was recently spotted in Roderick Bay, Ngela Islands, filming for an upcoming two-part Solomon Islands TV special. Scheduled for broadcast later this year, this special promises to captivate audiences with the breathtaking beauty and rich culture of the Solomon Islands.
During their stay, the cast participated in numerous activities across Honiara, Savo, and the Ngela Islands. They hiked to the stunning Tenaru Falls, visited the Hotomai Cultural Village, swam with dolphins around Savo Island, enjoyed cultural dance performances at Roderick Bay, and snorkeled in the crystal-clear waters of Maravaghi Island.
Known for raising millions annually for charity, the ‘Adventure All Stars’ program will air in October, reaching an estimated 190 countries and millions of viewers worldwide.
This visit marks the culmination of an extraordinary five-month period for Solomon Islands tourism, bolstered by extensive media coverage in major Australian and New Zealand outlets through the Tourism Solomons International Media Visitation Program (IMVP). Prominent features have appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, and the New Zealand Herald, highlighting the Solomon Islands’ unique culture, WWII history, and diverse tourist activities, from diving and surfing to engaging with local communities.
Upcoming media exposure includes a travel story by Australia’s News Ltd in its ‘Escape’ section, read by eight million people weekly, and feature articles in Australian Fishing News showcasing sports fishing in Santa Isabel and the Western Province. Surfing will be spotlighted in Tracks magazine, following a journalist’s surfing adventure in Gizo and Papatura Island Retreat.
Diving, a major attraction of the Solomon Islands, will be featured in SCUBA Diver magazine, with a series of in-depth articles on Marovo Lagoon, Gizo, and a Master Liveaboard experience.
Tourism Solomons has also partnered with high-profile Hungarian bloggers Peter Toth and Cecilia Fazekas to enhance digital marketing efforts, reaching hundreds of thousands of followers across Europe and the United States.
Planned activities for the remainder of the year include media familiarization trips for Australian and New Zealand travel writers, as well as business writers from Papua New Guinea and Fiji, focusing on the business links and leisure opportunities in the Solomon Islands.
Ongoing travel industry engagements in Australia and New Zealand involve extensive marketing campaigns with Travel Weekly and Travelinc Memo. Additionally, a significant visit by industry representatives is planned for the ‘Mi Save Solo’ tourism exchange in Honiara later in the year.
Tourism Solomons CEO (Ag), Dagnal Dereveke, emphasized the organization’s dedication to revitalizing the Solomon Islands tourism sector post-COVID-19, aiming to recapture the pre-pandemic success and international visitor growth.
“With limited resources to hand, efficiency and creativity are very much in place as our guiding principles,” Mr Dereveke said.
“We work off fairly tight budgets so we know that everything we do has to achieve maximum impact.
“But we are optimistic, we may still be in catch-up mode since re-opening our border in 2022, but we believe that by continuing on with our current marketing strategy, we will be back to where we were before the pandemic struck and once again enjoying record visitation numbers.”
The ‘Adventure All Stars’ visit was a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Culture & Tourism, Tourism Solomons, Solomon Airlines, and Travel Solomons, providing comprehensive logistical support.
