The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) shared that provisional visitor arrivals reached 3.4 million, reflecting a notable 20% surge compared to the same period last year. This increase is particularly significant as it showcases a positive trend in tourism recovery for Hong Kong. Notably, non-Mainland markets experienced an impressive growth of more than 50% from the previous year, indicating a growing interest in Hong Kong as a travel destination.
Among the short-haul markets, the end of Ramadan played a pivotal role in boosting visitor arrivals from Indonesia by over 80% compared to the corresponding period in 2023. This surge suggests a heightened appeal of Hong Kong’s offerings to travelers from diverse cultural backgrounds. Similarly, long-haul markets such as the US and Canada also saw a remarkable increase of over 80% in visitor arrivals year on year, signaling a broad-based recovery in international tourism to Hong Kong.
From January to April this year, Hong Kong welcomed a total of 14.62 million visitors, marking a twofold increase compared to the same period last year.
