Last year, the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) revealed new standards under development: the GSTC MICE Criteria, published in February and available to the public, and the GSTC Attraction Criteria, which is still being crafted with assistance from the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).
The effort to create the GSTC Attraction Criteria kicked off on September 1, 2023, following a three-month preparatory period that included defining the Terms of Reference (TOR) and forming a Technical Team. In parallel, we established the Attraction Criteria Development Advisory Group and the Key Stakeholder Group. The First Public Consultation was launched on January 15 and lasted 60 days.
We are currently inviting all industry stakeholders to participate in the Feasibility Assessment of the GSTC Attraction Criteria. This period of assessment is active now and will run until June 7, 2024. We urge entities involved with attractions, such as museums, amusement parks, and nature reserves, to carefully review the Draft Criteria. The focus of this review should be on assessing the pertinence, measurability, and clarity of each criterion and indicator. Your involvement is vital to ensure the criteria are robust and suitable for various environments.
