DC’s beloved summer concert series returns! The National Gallery of Art’s Sculpture Garden will once again be animated by ten vibrant musical performances spanning jazz, Afro-Latin fusion, and more. Catch these concerts every Friday from May 31 to August 9, with a break on July 5. It’s a yearly tradition at Washington DC’s renowned National Gallery of Art, where attendees are treated to an enchanting blend of groovy jazz melodies amidst stunning artworks.
The season commences with Grammy-nominated Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas bringing zydeco to life on May 31. Don’t miss other highlights like The Muneer Nasser Quintet’s Juneteenth celebration on June 21, Josanne Francis’s captivating Caribbean steelpan performance on June 28, and Brent Birckhead’s contemporary jazz showcase on July 26.
Due to Jazz in the Garden’s popularity and to ensure fairness, the NGA once again offers registration via a lottery system. The lottery opens every Monday at 10:00 a.m. and closes on Friday at noon before each event. Results are communicated the Monday prior to each program. If selected, registration for up to 4 passes is permitted, with registration mandatory for ages 2 and above.
In addition to lottery passes, a limited number of passes will be available at entrance gates on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 5:00 p.m.
New this year: rain dates will be offered for registered attendees in case of concert cancellations due to weather, with affected registrants contacted directly. On concert days, the Sculpture Garden closes from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., reopening at 5:00 p.m. for the concert at 6:00 p.m.
The National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden sits on the north side of the National Mall, with entrances at 7th Street NW, 9th Street and Constitution Avenue NW, and 9th Street and Madison Drive NW.

Refreshments from the Pavilion Café are available for purchase, offering a special menu featuring sandwiches, salads, snacks, and sweets. Additionally, pop-up bars throughout the Sculpture Garden provide refreshments. An array of beverages, including beer, wine, the popular sangria, and sodas, are also on offer. While visitors are free to bring their own picnics, outside alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited and may be confiscated.
