Jet2 has been forced to cancel all its flights to the Greek island Skiathos due to poor weather conditions.
All Jet2 flights departing from Bristol, Birmingham, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, London Stansted, Newcastle, and Manchester airports have been cancelled and will be rescheduled, the airline has announced.
The company said in a statement: “If you are travelling to Skiathos today, please do not travel to the airport.
“If you have already travelled to the airport, if possible, we would advise you to return home and back to the airport three hours before your new departure time tomorrow.
“If it is not possible to make your way home please speak to a member of our friendly Red team at the airport who will be happy to help.”
Customers who are unable to return home should seek assistance from their Red team at the airport.
Representatives for Jet2 have confirmed they are reaching out to passengers on the island of Skiathos who had return flights scheduled for today.
The airline added: “We apologise for this change that is unfortunately beyond our control.
“It is rare for our schedules to be disrupted like this and although this change is beyond our control, we understand it will disrupt your plans at the last minute and have done everything that we can to ensure we operate as soon as possible and minimise the delay.
“We have a huge team working hard behind the scenes at our UK-based HQ that are monitoring the situations and on behalf of us all, we are sorry again for the inconvenience this delay brings.”
The Hellenic National Meteorological Service issued warnings for “heavy thunderstorms” affecting the Sporades archipelago.
This has seen many flights pushed back until Saturday while strong winds and thunderstorms sweep the islands.
Flight-only passengers have been offered a free change onto the next available flight to the island or the option to cancel with a full refund.
Package holiday customers wanting to change travel arrangements are advised to contact Jet2.
