United Airlines prolongs flight hiatus to Israel amidst escalating tensions, joining other carriers in navigating geopolitical challenges.
United Airlines has declared it will pause its flight operations to and from Israel until early June. The airline revealed plans to delay the resumption of its daily flights to Tel Aviv until June 9, and to cancel a second daily service until June 19.
Previously, on April 19, following an attack by Israel on Iran, United decided to suspend its daily flights between New Jersey and Tel Aviv until May 2, a suspension that was subsequently extended to May 9.
Among other carriers, EasyJet, Air Canada, and Air India have also halted flights to Israel amid rising tensions with Iran. Air India initially stopped flights in October during the conflict between Israel and Hamas, then resumed service in 2024. However, operations were again put on hold in mid-April following subsequent hostilities.
In contrast, some airlines, including flyDubai, Ethiopian Airlines, and Azerbaijan Airlines, are cautiously beginning to restart their flights to Israel.
These interruptions in flights to and from Israel began last October with the onset of hostilities with Hamas, leading airlines such as American and Delta to cancel services as the conflict unfolded.
