At the same time, the Cultural Fair “Charming Inner Mongolia – Celebrating Diverse Intangible Cultural Heritage” commenced. This fair showcased over 30 key intangible cultural heritage elements and their custodians from the Ewenki Autonomous Banner and New Barag Right Banner. Throughout the holiday period, locals and tourists alike marveled at the intricate techniques displayed in the intangible cultural heritage exhibition hall, soaked in the artistic ambiance of the oil painting exhibition hall, shopped for innovative products rooted in intangible cultural heritage at the fair, savored traditional delicacies at the gourmet food exhibition area, and swapped favorite reads at the “book flea market.” The apprenticeship hall emerged as a coveted spot, offering visitors the chance to converse with heritage bearers and gain hands-on experience crafting intangible cultural heritage items.
“We had mouth-watering kebabs just off grills and local pure milk ice cream, wandered around the cultural fair, attended the intangible cultural heritage exhibition, and took pictures beside Mongolian yurts in the ancient city. It feels so pleasant as if we had travelled without leaving home.” On the first day off, Han Mo and his friends from Hailar rushed at once to the fair in the ancient city of Hulun Buir and the Xishan Night Market for relaxation.
The Cherry Picking Garden in Huoerqi Town, Arun Banner, is buzzing with activity. The “Cherries Awaiting You – Joy of Picking” Rural Revitalization Demonstration Garden’s 2nd Picking Season has begun, offering more than 10 fun and relaxing experiences that are drawing visitors from nearby areas. These experiences include cherry picking, learning agricultural skills, playing family games, camping and recreation, and exploring agricultural products and intangible cultural heritage at a sales exhibition.
Arun Banner has combined unique picking activities with rural tourism, blending orchards and gardens to create a route that connects three tourist destinations: the sweet cherry picking garden, the azalea-covered mountains of Lixin village, and the miles-long apricot flower slope. This integration enhances the tourist experience and promotes the development of “agriculture + culture + tourism.” The Huoerqi Cherry Industry Demonstration Park welcomes nearly 27,000 visitors each year.
Zhang Yijun, a tourist from Jilin province, travelled to Daur Autonomous Banner of Morin Dawa. “People here are good at singing and dancing, and warm and hospitable. There is local wine and gourmet food. I have got an experience of field hockey at close quarters, which is an item of intangible cultural heritage. I am deeply impressed by the variety of ‘spring outing’ activities,” Zhang Yijun was immersed in the experience of “Spring” in Morin Dawa – Daur Folklore Tour.
