Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka’s publicly having an animated chat with KL Rahul following a dispiriting result has irked fans on social media.
All’s not well in Lucknow Super Giants’ camp?
Well, if the visuals from the franchise’s Wednesday night defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad is anything to go by, it appears that owner Sanjiv Goenka isn’t happy with the way the season is unfolding towards the business end of IPL 2024.
Goenka could be seen having an animated chat with LSG captain KL Rahul after SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma reduced their IPL contest to a school-game, hunting down a target of 167 in just 9.4 overs.
Goenka appeared agitated as he was seen having a chat in full public view with Rahul, quietly listening and responding. However, the visuals haven’t gone down well with users on social media who slammed the LSG owner for not having the conversation behind closed doors.
This is just pathetic from @LucknowIPL owner Never saw SRH management with players on the field or even closer to dressing room irrespective of so many bad seasons and still face lot of wrath for getting involved. Just look at this @klrahul leave this shit next year #SRHvsLSG pic.twitter.com/6NlAvHMCjJ— SRI (@srikant5333) May 8, 2024
A player of such calibre KL Rahul needing to bear the wrath of the team owner on field in national media is depressing to say the least ! #patheticU guys are disappointed – we get it ! Talk it out in a team meeting behind closed doors fgs !

We are all passionate about the game. But, this is ridiculous from owners of LSG. Shameful.I have criticised KL Rahul many times in the past. But, full support to KL Rahul now.pic.twitter.com/vLqEUOMTxb

The defeat was LSG’s sixth in 12th match of IPL 2024 and thanks to the margin of defeat, it also left a heavy dent on their net run-rate. They have slipped below Delhi Capitals in the latest standings to be placed sixth now.
LSG though aren’t out of the IPL playoffs race but the path has certainly become more challenging with as many as nine teams still in contention.
Head and Abhishek combined for 30 boundaries – 16 fours and 14 sixes – in a brutal display at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad.
“I am lost for words,” Rahul said in a conversation with the broadcasters after the match. “We have watched that kind of batting on TV but this is unreal batting.
“Everything seemed to find the middle of the bat. Kudos to their skills. They have worked hard on their six hitting skills. They didn’t give us a chance to know what the pitch played in the second innings. Was hard to stop them as they teed off from ball one,” he added.
LSG have a break of five days to ponder over the result and recover from the defeat before they face Delhi Capitals in their next IPL 2024 match.
